Dr. Alwin Almeida
Albeit, being an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a passion for getting people back on their feet, Dr. Alwin Almeida has been an ardent supporter of the Y not only in the Cayman Islands, but also in his home country, India. With Christian ethics and values being inculcated in him since childhood, his wife, Smita and he strive hard to incorporate the same in their kids, Ethan and Elaina. Dr. Alwin is thankful to the Y for having given him the opportunity to serve the people of the Cayman Islands in ways other than his profession already allows him to. He looks forward to contributing to the Y, to the best of his ability and in this way, giving back to the society that has showered him with so much love.
Dr. Alwin is a Senior Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at Healthcity Cayman Islands with over 15 years of experience in Arthroscopic procedures and Joint Replacements.
He has played a pivotal role in advancing Health City Cayman Islands’ state-of-the-art Orthopedic Department. His extensive knowledge spans across the most innovative techniques such as computer navigation/Robotics for joint replacements, minimally invasive Hip and Shoulder surgeries etc. He is a graduate from St Johns Medical college in Bangalore and is a member of The Caribbean Association of Orthopaedic surgeons (TCOS), SICOT (International Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology) and The Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons (ISHKS).
