From kayaking the mangroves to swimming, camp songs, rugby workshops and laser tag, there was no shortage of fun this summer at the Y! This season, we also welcomed back the CIT programme, which was halted in 2020 due to COVID-19. 25 youth were enrolled in the programme and together they completed over 1,500 hours of community service through camp. This fall the Y is looking forward to another exciting year of after-school and to completing the ‘One Team, One Dream’ renovation project at the Field of Dreams. This initiative is aimed at lowering health and safety related incidents through a focus on safety around water and emergency response. In June, the Y’s first “Water Safety Day” was held. The event included a free swim skill assessment and participants received an educational resource package to help them safely develop their swim skills.

The YMCA is an ASHI training centre; providing staff, volunteers and programme partners with an internationally recognised Basic First Aid & CPR/AED certification, valid for up to two years.

In 2021 alone, the YMCA has processed over 70 applications for financial assistance; a growing need as we continue to face the realities of COVID-19.  Help us to support our community, by giving to the Y today!
